UAS-415 (Wheat)
Background:
The durum wheat grown in southern parts of India especially Karnataka and Maharashtra has high demand due to high grain protein content and hard seeds. These are the regions where local types are predominantly cultivated. Over a period of time, most of these types have become susceptible leaf and stem rust and of course with poor yielding ability. Hence, there is great demand for high yielding varieties from farming communities.
Technology Details:
Sincere efforts were made to develop UAS 415 variety at AICRP on Wheat at Dharwad keeping in view of the requirements of farming community. This variety was developed and released for cultivation under irrigated, timely sown condition of both Karnataka and Maharashtra. UAS 415 possesses yield superiority of 20 to 30 percent over local checks. Furthermore, it is highly resistant to stem and leaf rust and other minor diseases. Best suited for suji preparation with good suji recovery.
